In searching through some old journals God continued to speak to my fear. Eight years ago I attended a women’s retreat at our church. A godly women, Vickie Kraft** was our speaker. On my notes I scribbled the words: “What does God expect from us in crisis”… The first thing: DO NOT BE AFRAID! To “actively resist fear”, just as I had learned ...

5 reasons this was my favorite birthday party to plan yet

Usually I allow worrying ...

The things I worry about never happen, so my conclusion is that if I didn’t worry, I wouldn’t think things through thoroughly and eliminate problems, therefore things run smoothly. I also take the opinion that worrying is a form of prayer. If you show concern, God knows what you need help with. Turn your worries into prayer lists and you’ll get along fine.

Thanks for sharing this Heather. My week has started with some worry, and it’s such a good reminder that this is really FEAR. It sounds so much worse than “worry,” but you’ve called it what it is. I like Kate’s encouragement to turn my worry into prayer!

So true Julie, worry can sound so “benign” compared to fear. Praying for your worry right now!

This post is perfect timing for me. My husband and I are often worrying these days about finances, our company, our boys… We are unsure of how things will go for us with work, but God knows what is coming and where we are at. Thank you for reminding me not to worry or be afraid. I think I need to write myself some big notes to post around the house.

When you need rest, sit secure between His shoulders
The first time I met her I wasn’t a big fan. I had interviewed the pediatrician, not his nurse. Her lack of eye contact, abrupt manner, and apparent dislike for her job were irrelevant at this point. According to “What to Expect the First Year”, my one week old, first-born son required a doctor’s appointment. It was too late to find another doctor just because ...

fighting the voices like she did
Her name is Amy. Or “Ame”. Depends on which personality attacks addresses her, the deep voiced rapist or the high school friend. Amy and I were never formally introduced. Her messiness spilled out to anyone within a five-foot radius…which included me. My plan to find a quiet secluded corner proved to be a challenge in a Panera full of patrons finishing up lunch. Instead of settling down in ...

My “Bump Into Grace” Friends
*disclaimer: I received permission before including any of the following stories for this post. 80% of our interactions are accidental. I should rephrase that. We didn’t plan on seeing each other, but God always had our “accidents” written in His planner. Monday morning I felt like a metal ball in a never-ending pinball game, bouncing from need to need. The crazy ...
