When you feel small and big at the same time…

The other day a friend who studied Biology with me at Taylor University posted this super cool link: Scale of the Universe. Two brother scientists created this site where you can explore the biggest of the big in the universe and the smallest of the small, from planets to atoms. You begin with the size of a human and ...

    I LOVE this Heather. It reminds me of Louie Giglio’s How Great is Our God talk where he talks about the stars and our star-breathing God and then ends by talking about Laminin the stuff in our body that holds all the stuff together. Have you heard it? Sometimes it’s so comforting to know we’re so little and have such a big, creative, powerful, sustaining God!!!

    As I was reading your blog, I too was reminded of Louie Giglio’s talk. I heard him speak on it years ago with Chris Tomlin. It was amazing. Our God is so big and it is fascinating to me that we are so important to Him even when the universe is SO Huge. Can’t even wrap my tiny little brain around the size and greatness of our God. Thanks!

I am so very thankful for all the godly women (and men man…my dad) who take the time to read my words in this space. So honored. Thank you also for your prayers last Friday. Having attended MOPS for 3 years, I know the stressful chaos of getting kiddos ready and yourself gorgeous for MOPs meetings. Because of your amazing prayers, this past Friday I felt ...

For the past two years the first Saturday after Thanksgiving, we have sat on bleachers and cheered as high school bands passed by & giant balloons shaped like famous characters crowded the sky. Just when we had perfected the plan for ...

How Christmas Transforms the Mundane {Advent Ideas}

November 29, 2012 | Posted by GodCenteredMom on activity with kids, Holidays, replacing "me" with "He", winter fun / Tagged: Advent, Jesse Tree Project, Truth in Tinsel | 0 comments

Last week we celebrated Christmas with my husband’s family. Matching Christmas pjs. Visiting Santa with cousins. Waking early to open stockings. Exchanging presents by the lit tree. Finishing with a wonderful steak & potato Christmas dinner. Every activity just as it should be on Christmas day. But it didn’t feel like “Christmas”. There was ...

How to have God-centered {humble} Holidays

November 20, 2012 | Posted by GodCenteredMom on God-centered, replacing "me" with "He" / Tagged: God-centered, holidays, spiritual disciplines, unglued | 4 comments

The real-deal holidays are here. It’s time to get serious about this God-centered thing. Choosing to replace ‘me’ with ‘He’ sounds nice when I sitting in my leather chair, in the comfort of my home. Add in the stress of traveling with children, sharing small spaces with extended family, being off my routine, AND trying to be God-centered. Oi vay! I’ve spent time thinking about how ...
