What I really needed was a new battery

August 1, 2012 | Posted by GodCenteredMom on rest, summer fun / Tagged: AAA, Battery, recharge | 8 comments

With all three older boys finally loaded in their car seats, I turned the key and heard a click then nothing. The lights in the car turned on briefly, but no engine purrs. After 8 summers in Texas, my stomach sunk knowing what’s going on. Often in the extreme heat “borderline” car batteries stop functioning. I cried out, “Lord, why is this happening? The boys want ...

Water Gun Target Practice

July 5, 2012 | Posted by GodCenteredMom on activity with kids, creativity, summer fun / Tagged: boys, Summer, target practice, Water guns | 7 comments

Okay, so I know I wasn’t going to post this week…but this idea just happened. Hoping it helps you with over-tired, candy-filled, post-4th of July kiddos. My boys LOVE their water guns, but they don’t love to get shot in the face with water. In the past, to give them a productive goal, we’ve set up recycled trash as a target to aim at instead of ...

Sibling Summer Survival Guide

May 31, 2012 | Posted by GodCenteredMom on activity with kids, summer fun, training tips / Tagged: harsh words, honor, miller, peacemaker, sibling rivalry, Summer, turansky | 10 comments

The summer is great for so many reasons…{your list here!}. For us it means a lot more time at home (too hot in Texas to be outside, unless you are in a pool) AND a lot more time together. Given all this “time together” brothers can start to get agitated with one another. Buttons get pushed more frequently. Anger rises quickly. I find myself yelling, “STOP IT!” ...

Few Favorites Friday: San Antonio Edition

For the second week “off my foot” I went on vacation with my little family. The six of us! This trip was planned long before the fracture. Since I needed help with the boys and my husband had already taken off work…we stuck with the plan. Despite an injured momma and an exhausted hubby…here are our favorite ...
