Pep Talk for Perfectionists

December 13, 2012 | Posted by GodCenteredMom on encouragement, Holidays, symptoms of self / Tagged: perfectionists, unconditional love | 10 comments

She called to talk about my son, but I was the one who benefitted. As she spoke of his desire to perform perfectly, I nodded my head knowing how he feels. I love all your pictures in this post. Especially the last one with all of y’all. So sweet. You will be glad you have pics like that when they are grown up! You are the Best! And I am proud of you and the “best” that you are putting out all around you, is awesome. Keep on following hard after Him, gal.

Thank you for this reminder! Actually, I believe the Lord really wants me to learn this lesson right now. After a phone call from a friend this week pointing this out, a book I just received as a gift called “She Did What She Could,” and your post…I’m listening God. Praying for that sweet boy of yours…understand that school situation entirely too well :) . Praying we all can live it out.

Perfectionist, Achiever…and a mom

The online test wasn’t needed to know I’m a perfectionist & an achiever. But we were discussing the topic of personalities and marriage in our “sunday school” class, so I answered the questions. The results confirmed my personality type out of 9 options: perfectionist. As such, I need: “to know what is expected so that I can act accordingly and excel...to do things by the book ...

A Diet of Words

August 13, 2012 | Posted by GodCenteredMom on Say it to her face, symptoms of self / Tagged: dairy-free, Diet, Gossip | 8 comments

Sweet baby Knox does not love when I have dairy in my diet. When I drink milk, eat yogurt, or enjoy some Blue Bell Ice Cream, the milk I produce for him makes his tummy hurt and he spits up a lot. As much as I love a good bowl of yummy Rocky Road or delicious sour cream enchiladas, I love Knox more and don’t ...

Close friendships: the alternative to self-sufficiency

September 19, 2011 | Posted by GodCenteredMom on God-centered, humility, symptoms of self / Tagged: Dee Brestin, friendship, Friendship of Women, humility, pride, self-sufficient | 7 comments

I’d rather be self-sufficient than have to depend on people. I don’t want to be vulnerable. People disappoint. I’ve been ...
